Looking for the perfect photo session location in Arizona? Here are just some of my favorite outdoor spots for family, senior, and couple sessions—photographed during golden hour for that soft, glowing light.
Choosing the right spot for your photo session can make all the difference. Arizona has so many beautiful outdoor locations, and over the years, I’ve found some favorite places that always deliver. Whether you’re looking for something with desert views, lots of greenery, or a more urban backdrop, there’s something for everyone.
All of the spots I use are outdoors and scheduled in the evening—either during golden hour or just as the sun is setting. That soft, warm light makes everything look better and gives your photos a natural glow. Below are some of the locations I love and recommend often. Take a look and see what feels like the right fit for you.
White Tank Mountain Regional Park is one of my go-to spots for photo sessions. It’s just west of Surprise in Waddell and has the perfect mix of desert views—think big saguaros, mountain backdrops, and winding trails. It’s especially pretty in the evening when the sun starts to set and everything is lit up with that warm golden glow.
This cute little park located in the Surprise/Waddell area of Surprise is always perfect for a more green look to your photos. The sun sets behind the trees here and lights up the whole area! If you are looking for more color than the desert then this is your place!
Marley Park orange groves is located just across the street from Marley Park Elementary School in Surprise Az. Its the perfect spot for an intimate session or themed session!
Roosevelt Row in downtown Phoenix is such a fun spot for photos. It’s full of bold murals, colorful buildings, and cool little alleyways—every corner has something unique. It’s perfect if you want something more urban and artistic for your session. I love shooting here in the evening when the light is soft and the colors really pop.
Surprise City Center, especially around the courthouse, has a clean and classic look that works great for photos. There are neutral walls, greenery, and a nice mix of textures that give a polished feel without being too busy. It’s a simple, easy spot that works well for families, seniors, or headshots. Right across the street is a great mural wall to add a bit of color! I usually plan sessions here in the evening for the best light.
Munds Park is such a fun change of scenery from the desert. Just outside of Flagstaff, it’s full of tall trees, open fields, and quiet forest spots that make sessions feel relaxed and natural. It’s especially beautiful in the summer when everything is green and the weather is cooler. It’s a great location if you’re looking for something more laid-back and woodsy. I try to offer mini sessions here each year on specific dates but if booked outside of that timeframe they do have an additional travel fee.
North and South Lake Parks are a hidden gem for photo sessions. With calm water, tall grass, and wide open skies, it gives a soft and peaceful feel to your pictures. It’s especially pretty in the evenings when the sun sets behind the water. It’s a great option if you want a mix of nature without having to go too far.
